BOSTON, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
When: June 29, 2011, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET)
What: Today, enterprises consider moving their applications to the cloud for the following reasons:
- Rationalization of the application portfolio, leading to a more cost-efficient shared services architecture
- Cloud applications are easier to use, scale, maintain and integrate
- Cloud applications can reduce infrastructure footprint and costs with the use of commodity hardware, open source platforms and multi-tenant architecture.
The effort to migrate a diverse mission-critical application portfolio is not a trivial exercise – it requires careful planning and ongoing management of complexity and cost. Usually, migration of applications is not an "all or nothing" process, so a standardized methodology for selecting specific migration targets is a valuable decision tool. In many cases, migration decisions will be motivated by long term strategic objectives, such as architecture and operating cost reduction plans; but in some cases there is an immediate tactical challenge that can best be met by careful migration.
Join experts from Cloud Technology Partners (cloudTP) and VMware to learn about the best practices, methodologies and technologies to ensure a successful application transformation to the cloud. The experts will cover the following topics in this session:
- Application portfolio assessment and rationalization
- Criteria for identifying applications to migrate
- Profiling techniques to estimate re-factoring effort and cost
- Project Management Migration Framework
- vFabric Cloud Application Platform
- Why and What of TC Server
- ROI/TCO of vFabric/TC server deployment
- Customer references/case studies
