COGA Announces Speakers for Energy Epicenter Conference
DENVER, June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Colorado Oil & Gas Association announced today the Keynote Speakers and Program for the 23rd Annual Rocky Mountain Energy Epicenter Conference in Denver. More than 2500 industry professionals are expected to attend this year's Energy Epicenter conference, including key executives from Oil & Gas companies, elected and appointed officials, members of the environmental community, and investment bankers from Wall Street and all of the nation's financial centers.
The conference will kick-off on Tuesday August 2nd with a session on the ever-evolving natural gas and oil resources in the Rockies. The Rockies has continued to reinvent itself as an important oil and gas source for the last 100 years. Governor Hickenlooper will give the opening remarks. Later in the day, the discussion will shift to the potential markets for the abundance of Rockies' natural gas including the realistic potential for air pollution reduction as a means to drive demand – in both electricity generation and fleet vehicle conversions.
On Wednesday, August 3rd the Keynote Speaker John Hofmeister, former Shell Oil President and author of Why We Hate the Oil Companies, will discuss the conundrum of using natural gas to reduce pollution while also satisfying those opposed to drilling, and navigating public policy and resource development to reach the end goal of Affordable Energy. Hofmeister is the Founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy.
Steven Chu, Secretary of Energy (invited) will provide a special Keynote on Thursday August 4th, related to engaging communities, the need for unconventional partners and innovation in the areas of outreach, responsible development and regulatory engagement.
Also scheduled to speak at this who's-who oil and gas technical and policy conference are Governor Bill Ritter; Ensign President and CEO Robert Geddes; Deputy Director of the Energy Program, Environment Defense Fund Mark Brownstein; BP Executive Vice President, Government & Public Affairs Crystal Ashby, and Chesapeake Energy Senior VP of Human and Corporate Relations Martha Burger.
Additional program highlights include a COGA Keynote Luncheon and COGCC Awards on Wednesday August 3rd, with chairman, President & CEO of Halliburton Dave Lesar presenting, "The Unconventional Truth," as well as afternoon Investment Forum panels discussing US Unconventional Oil Plays.
In addition to the presenters and panel discussions, a variety of other events will also be taking place during the week. The Energy Epicenter Expo will be open August 2-4, 2011. The exhibit hall will be displayed in the Korbel Ballroom at the Colorado Convention Center and will feature over 100 energy industry exhibitors.
