Cohen Seglias Announces Merger with DC Firm
Launch of Internal Investigations Practice Group
PHILADELPHIA, June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC, a law firm that represents corporate clients and midsized privately held businesses, has announced a merger with Washington, DC-based Thaler Liebeler LLP, effective June 29, 2015. Thaler Liebeler partner, Paul S. Thaler, will become the managing partner of the Cohen Seglias office in DC.
Mr. Thaler, nationally known for his work in scientific and research misconduct matters, will merge his experience with that of Cohen Seglias partner Christopher Carusone, chair of the Government Law & Regulatory Affairs Group, to form a new Internal Investigations Practice Group. Comprised of more than 40 years of experience, the Group will represent institutions and individuals focusing on workplace investigations, scientific and research misconduct, and Title IX investigations.

The merger strengthens the firm's Federal Contracting Group, which has grown rapidly over the last seven years. Closer proximity to key federal courts, construction trade associations and other agencies with whom the firm works on a daily basis, provides key advantages for both the Construction and Federal Contracting Practice Groups.

Mr. Thaler represents clients nationally in scientific and research misconduct matters and was an invited speaker at the 20th annual conference for The Office of Research Integrity, which oversees investigations related to scientific misconduct allegations. In addition, Mr. Thaler has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country for 28 years and has provided private alternative dispute resolution services since 1992, specializing in mediation of business and employment disputes. Mr. Thaler received his J.D. from Georgetown University, an A.B. from Vassar College, and has been an adjunct professor at American University since 1999.
Once the merger is complete, Cohen Seglias will number 60 attorneys in nine locations. In addition to Mr. Thaler, attorneys in the DC office will include of counsel Lars H. Liebeler, senior counsel Karen Karas and associate Jackson S. Nichols. Coinciding with the merger, the DC office of Cohen Seglias will move locations to 1828 L Street, NW, located in Washington's Central Business District. The new space will include extra offices allowing Cohen Seglias attorneys from other locations to work while in DC.
