SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cold Stone Creamery® and Make-A-Wish® are inviting the country to help make wishes come true by attending the 11th Annual World's Largest Ice Cream Social on Sept. 27, the culmination of a month-long fundraising event. All day long, $1 from the sale of any Love It or Gotta Have It size Ice Cream, Yogurt or Sorbet Creation™ will be donated to Make-A-Wish.
Celebrating the 11th year of working together, Cold Stone Creamery will host a month-long fundraising celebration to benefit Make-A-Wish. Throughout September every Cold Stone® location nationwide will sell paper Make-A-Wish stars for $1 each, leading up to the 11th Annual World's Largest Ice Cream Social on Sept. 27.
Since 2002, Cold Stone Creamery has generated more than $4 million in donations to help enrich the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. That's enough to grant more than 500 wishes – each one a life-affirming gift that makes wish kids stronger, more optimistic and more willing to overcome the obstacles in their lives.
"We are very proud to say that we have aligned with Make-A-Wish for 11 years to host the World's Largest Ice Cream Social and have produced more than $4 million in donations," said Ray Karam, Cold Stone Creamery Sr. Tastemaster™. "I want to encourage everyone to come and help us make the 11th anniversary the best year yet!"
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Based in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world's leading children's charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 38 minutes. It has granted more than 212,000 wishes since its inception in 1980; nearly 14,000 in 2011 alone. Visit Make-A-Wish at www.wish.org to learn more.
