College Living Experience Becomes A Vendor Of The DC Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA)
RSA Provides Academic Funding for CLE Rockville Student
WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- College Living Experience (CLE), a national organization founded to help students with special learning needs achieve post-secondary education and independent-living skills, today announced that the Washington, DC Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) has named CLE as a vendor for its Vocational Rehabilitation Program (VR). CLE Rockville has enrolled its first student to receive vocational rehabilitation funding from RSA for academic study at Montgomery College, and as an RSA vendor, CLE will be part of the student's support network on the path to long-term employment.
Stephanie Martin, president of CLE, commented, "Being named a vendor of RSA creates a very meaningful partnership that creates opportunities for students with learning disabilities. We have mutual goals to help students in need achieve academic and vocational success that will ultimately lead to gainful employment. Along with scholastic and tutorial support, CLE has an active Career Development Program in conjunction with local businesses and nonprofits that enables students to explore their career interests as part of their study and develop valuable work skills."
The VR offered through DC RSA empowers people with physical or learning disabilities with the strategy, skills and general support necessary to overcome the many limitations in finding productive and self-fulfilling long-term employment. The support RSA offers includes identifying career goals based on personal interests and natural skills, providing funds for college and vocational training, assessing work site accommodations, and educating an employer about the Americans With Disabilities Act. RSA assigns a personal counselor to each individual in the program to collaborate on an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
