College Success Foundation Partners with Safeway, Albertsons and ESPN for Giving Campaign to Benefit Low-income Students in Washington State
ISSAQUAH, Wash., April 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The College Success Foundation is proud to partner with Safeway, Albertsons and 710 ESPN Seattle on a special statewide giving campaign May 1-31.
As high school and college seniors prepare for graduation, the College Success Foundation is celebrating their milestone in every Washington Safeway and Albertsons store. In-store signs will provide shoppers the opportunity to donate to the College Success Foundation at checkout.
710 ESPN will also feature 60-second spots throughout the month, challenging listeners to show their school spirit, with special Purple Pride and Crimson Spirit sunglasses available for a limited time for only $7.10 (plus shipping and handling) at https://www.collegesuccessfoundation.org/710-espn/sunglasses.
The College Success Foundation serves the underserved – students who might not otherwise get to college. Students are from vulnerable populations, including low-income, students of color, first-generation college goers and foster youth. Advisors serve 12,000 students annually in middle school, high school and college.
All proceeds from this campaign will support College Success Foundation's in-school programs and scholarships in Washington state dedicated to low-income students. The Foundation works in middle schools and high schools in Seattle, Tacoma, Highline, Yakima, and Spokane schools districts. Beginning in the fall of 2016, it will expand to Auburn, Kent, Bremerton and Port Angeles school districts. The Foundation also provides college scholarships to low-income students. Students attend colleges and universities throughout Washington and 7,000 students have graduated with college degrees to date.
"Our 15 years of experience show us that by combining scholarships and academic, emotional, social and financial supports, we can make the greatest impact on our students' lives," said Dr. Yolanda Watson Spiva, President & CEO of the College Success Foundation. "We appreciate the support of our community partners – Albertsons, Safeway and 710 ESPN – in helping us raise funds to enhance our students' success."
"We are proud to provide this opportunity for our shoppers to donate at checkout to this model nonprofit that is helping thousands of low-income Washington students graduate from high school and college," said Sara Osborne, Director, Safeway Foundation and Albertsons Companies Foundation.
