DENVER, Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hitting the slopes for your family ski vacation just got easier and less expensive. Slope Threads offers a new take on ski apparel rental and is launching their online store today.
Slope Threads is a one-stop shop for ski clothing rental. Customers rent their gear online, have it delivered to their destinations for free, and drop it back in the mail in pre-postmarked packaging.
The concept of renting clothing for formal occasions was made popular years ago by companies looking to help consumers save time and money without sacrificing style. Slope Threads aims to solve the same problems for skiers and snowboarders. First-time and occasional skiers often shell out hundreds of dollars for something they might only wear for two to three days each season. In addition to first-time skiers, Slope Threads is aiming to make life easier for travelers, and families with growing children.
The name-brand ski outfits come in combinations that include jackets, pants, goggles and gloves, with the ability to add-on a helmet rental and purchase other accessories such as base layers, hats and sunscreen. By partnering with Aspen-based, outdoor clothing company Obermeyer, Slope Threads is able to offer high-quality, name-brand outfits for women, men and children starting at just $35 a day.
The company was born when founder, Sarah Laughlin, a Colorado native and ski-enthusiast, discovered how difficult it is for many people to prepare for their ski vacations or occasional day on the slopes. After living on the East Coast for nine years and traveling back to Colorado regularly to ski, she experienced the dilemma first hand.
"With the increase in airline baggage fees, the prohibitive cost of purchasing name-brand apparel and the time and hassle involved in getting a full ski outfit together, I realized that many people may not be fully enjoying what should be an amazing experience on the slopes, or they are missing out on this experience entirely," explained Laughlin. "We wanted to simplify this process and ensure everyone has the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beautiful mountains."
