Colts Owner, Jim Irsay Provides "InSideOut Coaching" Books to Indiana H.S. Football Coaches
BOOKS ALSO PRESENTED TO COLLEGE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENTS
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jim Irsay, Owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts provided every high school head football coach in Indiana a copy of Joe Ehrmann's book, InSideOut Coaching: How Sports Can Transform Lives. "My relationship with Joe is very special, and I have a tremendous personal and professional regard for his dedicated work to help others," said Irsay. "I have been inspired by his book, and I want to help all coaches in our sport in the state of Indiana by sending them a copy. We all know high school coaches can play a tremendous role in the lives of young men, and I hope they all can benefit as I have from Joe's life, his experience, and his writing."
While Joe Ehrmann played professional football for 13 seasons, his greatest accomplishments in the world of sports have been off the field as a child advocate, coach, inner-city community developer and for helping to redefine sports and reframe coaching. He has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America, honored by The National Consortium for Academics & Sports and Joe has been called "The Most Important Coach in America" by Parade Magazine.
InSideOut Coaching is part autobiography, part motivational manifesto, and part instructional manual. Ehrmann shares his personal history, and explains why and how he developed his transformational coaching philosophy and what other coaches and leaders can do to incorporate InSideOut coaching principles and techniques into their programs. Ehrmann advocates sports and coaching as a tool "to help boys and girls become men and women of empathy and integrity who will lead, be responsible, and change the world for good."
InSideOut Coaching is a must-read, not only for coaches, but for players, parents, mentors, teachers, and social activists. "Coaches," says Ehrmann "have an almost unparallel platform, power and position to address issues like bullying, racism, educational attainment and gender violence while developing moral character traits of empathy, moral courage, justice and reasoning in their players."
The response and receptivity has been tremendous since its release on August 2, 2011. Among many generous promoters of the book, one advocate purchased copies for every Division I Athletic Director, Head Football, Basketball, and Lacrosse Coach in America. Following these lines, many others have bought books for their staff, friends, colleagues, and business associates. Individuals who believe in the InSideOut message have found creative ways to use their resources in order to continue the dialogue around the role of transformational coaching in sports today.
