COMB+ Delegation Pays a Visit to the Harvard Innovation Lab During their First Stop in the US

BOSTON, Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A delegation of entrepreneurs from the Beijing-based business incubation platform COMB+, serving as the world's first "global online Silicon Valley", visited the Harvard Innovation Lab, the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship and the Cambridge Innovation Center in Boston's Innovation District on September 8, 2015, and engaged in lively discussions with Prof. Yasheng Huang, associate dean of the MIT Sloan School of Management as well as with the director of the MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (MIT-CHIEF) who is also an expert on incubation models and the unique characteristics of the city's innovative entrepreneurship centers.  

Many of the innovative entrepreneurship institutions that the COMB+ delegation visited expressed deep appreciation for COMB+'s strategy and plan and expressed their interest for further cooperation with the platform through in-depth discussions. Meanwhile, the COMB+ delegation was greatly inspired by and gained invaluable insight into the operational concepts and models of the organizations that they visited. Several members of the delegation said that they will make use of this firsthand experience as they plan their future growth.

Harvard Innovation Lab, a platform fostering learning, exchanges, entrepreneurship and innovation among Harvard students, is a cross-disciplinary and cross-university collaboration complex providing resources, networking events, capital, information and its own social network. After a visit to the campus and to popular meeting places for community entrepreneurs, the delegation said it was deeply impressed by the innovative design ideas and the atmosphere of open-mindedness and freedom to express one's own creativity. The Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship represents the voice of entrepreneurship. The organization is committed to supporting more startups by designing and giving a systematic series of entrepreneurship training courses. More than 3 million entrepreneurs have received the training via online courses. Bill Aulet, managing director of the center and the father of entrepreneurship research, was impressed by the structure and size of COMB+. Mr. Aulet developed a specialized development roadmap for COMB+ and indicated that localized teaching materials for China will be provided to help Chinese entrepreneurs realize their dreams. Meanwhile, he also expressed his intention to cooperate with COMB+ in the promotion of online and offline courses. At MIT, COMB+ had a cordial talk with Chinese professor Yasheng Huang, associate dean of MIT Sloan School of Management. Prof. Huang expressed his deeply felt approval of the COMB+ model and said he looked forward to introducing more projects into China through COMB+ as part of a possible further cooperation.

One of the delegation's stops was at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), a hub of innovation in the city of Boston, with featured designs for the different companies on each floor of the center's building. For 16 years, CIC has been a co-working environment that differentiated itself from its peers with its focus on details, office layouts, customer analysis as well as innovative and personalized services. CIC is now in the process of setting up its first overseas office in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The head of the new office said that their next location will be in Asia and they will be looking forward to starting discussions with potential partners in the near future.

MIT-CHIEF is one of the world's most influential innovation and entrepreneurship forums. With more than 120 senior mentors, a significant number of Chinese entrepreneurs gathered together at the forum. A spokesman for the forum expressed deep appreciation of the COMB+ development model and concept and invited COMB+ to give a presentation on the model at the innovation and entrepreneurship event scheduled for November 21. MIT-CHIEF and COMB+ plan to further discuss and jointly host events in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanjing via the COMB+ platform in the future.
