Shark Weekend at the National Aquarium, Washington, features a jam-packed schedule of entertaining and educational activities for all ages that are free with the cost of admission. Visitors can get up close and personal with several shark species, see a shark feeding, and learn from leading experts on the history, lives and habits of one of the world's most fascinating ocean dwellers. Children can participate in a scavenger hunt, touch actual shark teeth, get their favorite shark painted on their face and create their very own shark t-shirt (additional fee applies). And be sure to visit Sherman's Lagoon, based on the popular nationally syndicated cartoon series by Jim Toomey, and meet "Sherman" himself, brought to life as a costumed character exclusively for the National Aquarium.
