Communications Systems, Inc. Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2009 Results

MINNETONKA, Minn., March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Communications Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCS) today reported 2009 net income of $6,044,000, or $0.72 per diluted share, on sales of $109,792,000. In 2008, the Company earned $6,611,000, or $0.77 per diluted share, on sales of $122,700,000.  During the 2009 fourth quarter, the Company posted net income of $1,211,000, or $0.14 per diluted share, on sales of $26,336,000, as compared to net income of $1,370,000, or $0.17 per diluted share, in the 2008 fourth quarter on sales of $28,405,000. Further information regarding 2009 results is provided in the Company's Annual Report on Form 10-K that is being filed on or about March 17, 2010 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

At December 31, 2009, CSI's cash, cash equivalents and investments were $40,069,000 compared to $29,952,000 at the end of 2008, despite using approximately $4.6 million in cash for stock dividends and stock buy-back programs during the year."
