Communities In Schools of Nevada to Host Community Summit
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT |
Crime, truancy, delinquency. This is what one North Las Vegas neighborhood faced on a daily basis. Deciding to turn things around, they took control of their circumstances and turned adversity into triumph. Through a collaborative effort between the neighborhood, juvenile justice and community organizations, Jim Bridger Middle School went from a "needs improvement" school to being named one of the top five magnet schools in the United States and leading the way in academic success. Communities In Schools will be holding a community summit to learn how key partnerships and community involvement empower kids to stay in school, graduate, and reach their true potential in life...and how such programs can be duplicated throughout the state of Nevada. |
