'Community Safety Saturday' Informs Parents About Child Safety

VISALIA, Calif., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Protector Network and Capital Insurance Group (CIG) Insurance Center's Central Valley Insurance Agency together with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Visalia Police Department, host California's first Community Safety Saturday. This family friendly event will take place on Saturday, April 24, in the Carmel Plaza. At the event parents will be informed about the importance of the proper installation and use of child safety restraints in vehicles and have the opportunity to receive a Photo Rapid ID Card and fingerprinting kit for their child.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children under 14. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated that nearly three out of four parents are not aware of the proper use of child safety restraints such as booster seats. Many parents do not know that California law requires that children under 6 years old or weighing less than 60 pounds ride in an approved, properly installed child safety seat.
