ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Compendium is pleased to announce that two of their key team members, Dana Lacy and Jeff Barb, were recognized and personally thanked by SES Bobby Smart (SAF/CIO A6P) for their significant contributions to United States Air Force (USAF) decision making process. The team developed a unique solution that allows users to see the ripple effects of decisions made throughout the USAF at an enterprise level. Specifically, their work enables the visualization of operational and programmatic interrelationships between programs across the USAF and will eventually enable real time trade-off analyses to support decision-making processes including Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPB&E) and Defense Acquisition Process (DAP).

In addition to creating a prescribed architecture, a key component of the work was to synthesize disparate sources of authoritative information into a useful tool for decision makers The ultimate goal is to provide the USAF, and specifically the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Programs, with unprecedented visibility of program relationships and dependencies, reveal second-and-third-order effects of decisions and their impacts on the Future Years Defense Program, and allow for better integration and collaboration across the twelve USAF Service Core Functions. The work also has broader implications and benefits for the USAF, derived from leveraging standardized and authoritative data to reveal intuitive and non-intuitive dependencies for USAF decision makers.
"We're proud to help shape the way the Air Force evolves its strategic planning process," states Dennis Dempsey, Managing Partner at Compendium, LLC. He continues, "Fusing disparate data sources to perform 'what if analyses' and visualize the 2nd and 3rd order effects provides the Air Force and the Department of Defense with a capability to make better-informed capital investment decisions that deal with today's fiscal realities."
Compendium's work for the USAF has been highly acclaimed and has resulted in several awards for USAF officers, including: Legion of Merit (O-6), Meritorious Service Medal (O-5), and the 2012 AFA Outstanding Member of the Year for the SAF/CIO War-fighting Integration Directorate (O-5).
