Congressman Jim Moran Supports Press the President Campaign to Stop Animal Testing
Press the President Urges Americans to Debate Animal Rights in Writing and on Video
WASHINGTON, March 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Earlier this month, Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) sat down with Press the President to discuss the issue of animal testing in the United States as part of Press the President's campaign for animal rights. Press the President has been encouraging journalists and organizations across the U.S. to write and speak out about animal cruelty. Congressman Moran recently sponsored a bill, the Humane Cosmetics Act (H.R. 4841), in Congress that would prohibit animal testing for cosmetics produced in the US and phase out the sale of animal-tested cosmetics produced in other countries. The EU and other countries have similar measures already in place to create cruelty-free marketplaces.
"The United States is one of the few remaining democracies that still have no laws against animal testing," stated Congressman Moran, a co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus. "My hope is that my bill would put an end to this terrible practice and attract greater attention to animal rights efforts in the U.S."
Press the President has created a page on its blog featuring Congressman Moran and his interview about animal testing. Press the President invites Americans to add to the discussion on animal testing and animal rights by viewing Congressman Moran's page and registering to write or post videos on these topics.
