Construction Lawyers, LLP Recovers Over $4.7 Million On Behalf Of Two Condominium Associations For Construction Defects

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by Construction Lawyers, LLP.

Construction Lawyers, LLP announced today that it has recovered in excess of $4.7 million on behalf of two condominium associations. The recoveries are against the builders who developed and constructed the condominium communities.  

The Estates at Park Central Condominium Association, Inc. recovered approximately $2,000,000 for a construction defect lawsuit against the parties involved in the development and construction of its garden-style condominium community.  The project, built in phases beginning in 2005, is comprised of 244 units and is located in Orlando, Florida.

The case was filed in Orange County Circuit Civil Court in December, 2010.  The alleged defects consisted primarily of leaks into and related damage to soffit areas below balconies and above garages.  Additional deficiencies were alleged with respect to the stucco application and waste-water systems.

The case was mediated by Lawrence Watson of Upchurch, Watson, White & Max.  After several mediations, 30 months of litigation, and a matter of weeks before the scheduled trial date, the case was ultimately settled. Christopher Coglianese and Stephen Hauptman of Construction Lawyers, LLP were the handling attorneys on behalf of Plaintiff.

The Grand Venezia COA, Inc. recovered $2,725,000 for a construction defect lawsuit against the general contractor who built its condominium community.  The project, originally constructed as apartments in or about 2001, and later converted to condominiums, is comprised of 336 units and is located in Clearwater, Florida.  The lawsuit remains ongoing against the converter, DC 703, LLC.

The case was filed in Pinellas County Circuit Civil Court in November, 2010.  The alleged defects consisted primarily of defective and leaking roofs and windows, as well as improperly installed stucco systems, with associated dry-rot and water damage.

The case was mediated by Lawrence Watson of Upchurch, Watson, White & Max.  After several mediations and approximately 6 months before the scheduled trial date, the Association's claims against the general contractor were settled.  Christopher Coglianese and Stephen Hauptman of Construction Lawyers, LLP were the handling attorneys on behalf of the Plaintiff.
