New National Consumers League Survey Examines Parental Attitudes Toward Cell Phone Ownership Among Pre-Teens, Level of Awareness of Money-Saving Strategies.
WASHINGTON, July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- How are parents adapting to the increasing number of children who want a cell phone in their "tween" years? Is that first wireless device likely to be a no-frills phone or a smartphone? How many parents end up paying more than they expected for tweens' cell phones? What are the biggest causes of friction between parents and tweens when it comes to cell phone use?
These are among the major questions answered in a major new ORC International survey commissioned by the National Consumers League (NCL). The survey of 802 parents of "tweeners" (children ages 8-12) will be released during a live, phone-based news event at 1:30 p.m. EDT on July 10, 2012. NCL also will provide advice and pointers for parents about how to save money on cell phone service for young children, as well as to protect them against possible abuses and other problems.
