Corum Watches Unveils Renown Pop Artist Nelson De La Nuez, the King of Pop Art, Limited Edition Collection Bubble Watches Internationally

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "Upon closer inspection, one might wonder why the partnership between Corum and Nelson De La Nuez hadn't occurred earlier, as it seems inevitable that their two worlds would meet," something that struck Jérôme Biard, CEO of Corum, while visiting an art gallery. "Nelson De La Nuez is one of those artists who doesn't follow trends, who creates his own universe by gathering inspiration from his surroundings and always manages to be innovative," the CEO comments.

By entrusting the King of Pop Art with the keys to create this new collection, Corum once again sets itself apart by not simply absorbing works of art but by allowing its Bubble watches to become art. 

De La Nuez has created four unique watch designs that will be unveiled in various sizes for both men and women's watches; there will be 2 sizes available in a few of the designs and they will stand apart also by band colors. The Strictly for Men, for instance, is available in a 42mm size with a white band for women and a larger 47mm size with a blue band for men. The women's is being released sooner (March) than the men's. All of the watches are limited editions of 88 and are expected to sell out quickly.

The artist's full name is engraved on the back of each watch along with the edition number. An artfully designed to match certificate of authenticity comes with each watch, as well as a large black box with the artwork surrounding the actual watch. Corum believes in presentation and packaging and knows that these watches deserve a very special look to their boxes alone.

"We knew that the collaboration with the King of Pop Art would be the perfect match, because we share the same audience...one that is sophisticated and cultured, yet wants to stand out and show who they are, whether it's through their art or their fashion/watches," explained Biard.  The artist designed the watches to be a little bit "naughty & edgy" but still classy and sophisticated to wear anywhere...to stand out just enough under a tux or on the red carpet...he also has thousands of devoted celebrity collectors.

The much anticipated "Club Diablo" bubble watch states, "Bloody Hell" with a retro martini glass, De La Nuez's pop art version of the devil and a club entrance to "Club Diablo." The bubble watches lend themselves artistically to the pop art just by looking at them. They have a domed sapphire crystal with an anti reflective treatment and almost beg for you to look down into them to see what image it holds. A remarkable 8 mm high on larger watches, this sapphire crystal is one of the largest of any watch. It acts as a lens, magnifying the dial.

De La Nuez's "Martini Hour" bubble will make its exciting debut in this first collection also. It will be a large 52mm; the largest of the three sizes with standout vintage martini artwork.
All of the watch designs are inspired by the artist's original full sized paintings by the same titles. Corum and the artist are currently planning a VIP official launch party in the US with details to be announced soon. The watches will be sold internationally and the second collection is already in the works.
