WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The ninth annual Cosmetic Bootcamp (CBC), held June 20-23 in Aspen, Colo., included many first-time sessions, including sessions on optimizing patient outcomes using surgery, botulinum toxins, lasers, fillers, and topical products, as well as talked about how to avoid counterfeit products and the psychology of the cosmetic patient.
Among nearly 50 educational sessions, the meeting also showcased the full palette of treatments available for facial hyperpigmentation, offering a real-world perspective on treatments ranging from topical agents to chemical peels and fractional lasers. This year's CBC featured more than 3 dozen didactic sessions and a total of 12 live injection sessions and device workshops. In addition, CBC Co-director Vic Narurkar, M.D., chaired the annual financial summit on challenges in core aesthetic medicine with Jason Riis, assistant professor at Harvard Business School. Dr. Narurkar is also associate clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California-Davis (UCD).
Attendees included a capacity crowd of more than 200 physicians from throughout the United States, plus Puerto Rico, Portugal, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Korea. Also on hand were nurses, aestheticians, other allied healthcare professionals, and industry representatives.
"Our growing attendance and continued industry support show that Cosmetic Bootcamp remains a unique continuing medical education opportunity, and the popularity of the meeting really is a testament to the content and the faculty," said CBC Co-director Kenneth Beer, M.D., a West Palm Beach, Florida-based dermatologist.
Other co-directors for this year's CBC included Jonathan Sykes, M.D., director, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, UCD, and Jose Montes, M.D., associate professor, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.
