Court Slams Vrege Armoyan with Contempt Order After He Flees Canada and Fails to Pay Court Support
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, June 23, 2015 trial attorney Brad Edwards, partner at Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos and Lehrman, P.L., obtained a monumental $24M jury verdict in a wrongful death case on behalf of his client, Michael Demella. A day later another of Edwards's clients, Lisa Armoyan, received a record breaking contempt award in Canada. Edwards leads an international legal team representing Lisa Armoyan in the United States and Canada in her attempt to recover more than $25M from her ex-husband, Vrege Armoyan.
The case arises from a highly publicized divorce case litigated in Florida which resulted on October 26, 2012, in the entry of a Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage ordering Vrege to make a total payment of over $20 million to Lisa. Vrege Armoyan failed to pay spousal or child support, was found to be in contempt of court, and abandoned the jurisdiction to Canada.

In an unprecedented win, the Canadian court has now recognized the support portion of Florida's final judgment and ordered Vrege to pay the required monthly support to Lisa. Despite the Order, Vrege has refused to pay the support as ordered, has been held in contempt by the Canadian court and was sentenced to an unprecedented 4 years imprisonment for his conduct on Wednesday, June 24th.
