Hotel in Chattanooga hosts fundraiser benefiting Chattanooga Area Food Bank, honors longtime employee
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of its silver anniversary, Courtyard Chattanooga I-75 at Hamilton Place hosted a special celebration benefiting the community that it has called home for the past 25 years.
The fun kicked off at 3:30 p.m. May 19, 2016, when the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce arrived at the hotel near Hamilton Place Mall for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to commemorate the hotel's 25th anniversary. The Chamber declared May 19 as "Courtyard at Hamilton Place" day in honor of the hotel's active participation and dedication to the Chattanooga community.
Putting its love of philanthropy into practice, Courtyard Chattanooga I-75 then kicked off the official community celebration at 5 p.m., where 100 percent of funds raised from a raffle and wine tasting were donated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Canned food donations were also accepted during the community event.
"It gives me great pride to be celebrating this monumental milestone with such a hardworking and dedicated team," said Rick Cadena, general manager of the hotel. "It only made sense that we take this opportunity to give back to our wonderful community that continues to support and provide us with such a wonderful place to call home."
Event guests were greeted with live music and invited to join in on a raffle to win exciting prizes. Several hotel employees also happily volunteered to participate in the entertainment — including Ken Kelleston, who played guitar, and Jonae Genosier, who read a special poem — to show their passion and commitment to the Courtyard hotel. To keep attendees sipping and savoring, the party offered a delicious menu provided by The Bistro – Eat. Drink. Connect., the hotel's restaurant, as well as a $5 sparkling wine tasting.
During the event, Cadena and opening General Manager Bruce Reed took time to award a loyal employee, Sandra Hudgins, for her 25 years of service as a dedicated laundry attendant.
