General Manager Robby Gilreath praised for building strong team, budgeting aggressively
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Things at Courtyard Nashville Goodlettsville aren't just "good" but are exceptional now that the hotel's general manager has been named the 2014 Courtyard General Manager of the Year.
Robby Gilreath was presented with the prestigious award in February 2015 at the general managers conference held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The honor is given to leaders who exemplify excellence in overall hotel leadership, team building and development, financial management, sales and service leadership, and community service.
"I'm beyond flattered to be honored by my peers and associates with this distinguished accolade," Gilreath said. "I firmly believe in my team and appreciate their hard work in making the most of our guests' travel experience."
Serving as general manager of the hotel in Goodlettsville, TN for the past five years, Gilreath has far exceeded the qualifications for winning this award, notes nominator Tamara Markham, senior director of Marriott's Eastern region. His passion for the hospitality industry stems from nearly 28 years of experience across all Marriott brands, with 6.5 years being with Courtyard.
Gilreath has tirelessly worked to lead his team to be in the top 20% of all Courtyard hotels in terms of guests' overall satisfaction. The Goodlettsville, TN hotel is also ranked No. 1 out of 16 on TripAdvisor. In addition to his strong work ethic, positive goal setting and commitment to the brand's high standards, Gilreath's success is greatly attributed to understanding the importance of taking care of his associates, who in turn cater to their guests.
"Robby is a leader who allows us to get to the end result by the way we see fit within the expectations he sets," said Brian Colton, assistant general manager of Courtyard Nashville Goodlettsville. "He cares about the growth and development of associates, which is something I am a strong believer in, so he motivates me by that."
Investing in the success of his team and always leading by example, Gilreath has been able to grow people into new roles not only within his hotel near Nashville, TN but also within the industry. Markham said Gilreath creates an environment that is fun and allows for creativity, ensuring members are happy and inspired to work with the hotel's customers.
In addition to serving his associates, Gilreath has an unmatched loyalty to guests staying at his Goodlettsville hotel. Whether spending hours on social media to respond to every comment posted by travelers or driving a group of business professionals to their destination in a pinch, Gilreath is constantly going above and beyond, Markham said on the five-page nomination form.
