ATLANTA, Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications announced today that Cox Business, the company division that provides voice, data and video services for business customers, will surpass $1 billion in annual revenue by the end of this week. Cox pioneered cable business services when it entered the market in 1993, and the company continues to lead the industry in success with customers today.

Cox first began offering business services in response to telecom carriers demand for reliable local network connections in Hampton Roads, Va. Cox was the first large cable operator to bring competition to telephone companies after the 1996 Telecom Act opened the door for consumer choice. In 2000, Cox established Cox Business as a formal business unit with approximately $100 million in revenue that year.

Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Major Provider Business Telecommunications Study(SM). Cox is currently the seventh largest voice service provider in the U.S. and supports more than 800,000 business phone lines.
Cox Business' strategies to continue aggressive business services growth include developing industry-specific voice, data and video solutions, exploring managed services that address the broader IT needs of companies and integrating recently launched Cox Wireless capabilities into future business products.
