CPU Tech Announces VxWorks Support for the Acalis® Secure Processor
Expansion in Embedded Operating System Support Makes High Security Processing Available to More Systems
PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- CPU Tech, a leader in trusted and secure processing solutions, today announced the availability of the beta version of board support for Wind River's VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) for the Acalis Secure Processor on the EB872 Acalis Evaluation Board. The Acalis CPU872 Secure Processor addresses the urgent need to protect critical program information (CPI) as required by US Department of Defense Instruction 5200.39.
The combination of the high-performance VxWorks RTOS with the Acalis Secure Processor allows customers to easily transition their embedded designs to the Acalis environment. The EB872 board support package (BSP) provides Wind River Workbench users the ability to customize the VxWorks kernel within the Wind River environment, and enables a wide range of Wind River partner tools using the open Eclipse infrastructure. Combining VxWorks robustness features such as process memory protection, secure network communications stacks, and guaranteed resource availability together with Acalis' secure boot, hardware firewalls, hardware encrypt/decrypt and secure interconnect makes for a powerful and compelling solution.
The solution consists of the VxWorks RTOS, a VxWorks BSP, the Acalis Secure Processor, an EB872 Acalis Evaluation Board all from CPU Tech, and the Workbench development environment from Wind River including optimizing compilers for the Acalis processor.
"CPU Tech customers can now enjoy the familiarity and flexibility of Wind River tools while developing high-performance and secure embedded systems," said Dave Bennett, VP Software Development at CPU Tech. "Support for the Workbench IDE provides an easy-to-use, highly productive environment for product development."
"The Acalis platform with VxWorks enables the creation of a straightforward, easy-to-deploy, multi-domain system," said Chip Downing, senior director of aerospace and defense at Wind River. "This solution enables existing VxWorks developers to use their familiar RTOS and development tools for building systems on advanced silicon platforms that provide physical separation for critical security requirements."
"Having VxWorks support for the Acalis processor shortens our product timelines considerably," according to NUWC-Newport. "We are able to use the Wind River tools our engineers have developed expertise with while creating and debugging Acalis security designs."
