SOLEDAD, Calif., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CRŪ Winery announced today that their tasting room has been designated a Blue Zones Project Participating Organization. This impressive acknowledgment recognizes CRŪ Winery for actively implementing lifestyle changes and environmental modifications to promote longevity and overall well-being.
CRŪ Winery has partnered with the Blue Zones Project Monterey County since 2023, with a monthly hiking series through the sustainably farmed Paraiso Vineyard at the CRŪ Winery tasting room in Soledad. This series inspired the winery to complete the Blue Zones Project Participating Organization checklist and review process, which addressed four pillars consistent with promoting overall well-being. With this recognition, CRŪ Winery becomes the first tasting room in Monterey County to become a Blue Zones Project Participating Organization.
"This recognition represents CRŪ Winery's dedication to supporting the overall health of our employees, visitors, and the local community," says CRŪ Winery CEO, Nathan Stern. "Wellness and sustainability are a pillar at CRŪ Winery, and we are extremely proud to be recognized as a Blue Zones Project Participating Organization."
CRŪ Winery will be celebrating this recognition with an event at their Santa Lucia Highlands Tasting Room on Saturday, February 22nd. Blue Zones Project Monterey County will be in attendance along with Pancho's Craft Pizza, music duo Songbird Meadow, and other Monterey County businesses. The event is open to the public; additional details can be found at cruwinery.com.
As a part of the Blue Zones principle of moving naturally, CRŪ Winery will once again be teaming up with Valley Farm Management and Blue Zones Project Monterey County to offer their monthly hiking series through the sustainably farmed Paraiso Vineyard.
The hikes are offered the second Sunday of each month and start and end at the CRŪ Winery tasting room in Soledad. Learn more about the hiking series and CRŪ Winery at cruwinery.com.

ABOUT BLUE ZONES PROJECT
Blue Zones Project is a community-led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to a city's environment, policy, and social networks. Blue Zones Project is based on research by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow and New York Times best-selling author who identified five cultures of the world—or blue zones —with the highest concentration of people living to 100 years or older. Blue Zones Project incorporates Buettner's findings and works with cities to implement policies and programs that will move a community toward optimal health and well-being. Blue Zones launched the first pilot community in 2009 in Albert Lea, MN with groundbreaking results. Directly and also in partnership with Sharecare, the model has since been applied to more than 75 communities in the United States. Participating communities have experienced double-digit drops in obesity and tobacco use and have saved millions of dollars in healthcare costs. For more information, visit bluezones.com.
