Crayola 2011 Washable Coloured Bubbles settlement program in Canada announced with Crayola
MONTRÉAL, Aug. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - The Superior Court of Quebec has set a settlement approval hearing for a class action proceeding brought against Crayola over its 2011 line of Washable Coloured Bubbles.
The proceeding claims the labelling and advertising of 2011 Washable Coloured Bubbles as "washable" is inaccurate. Crayola does not admit to any allegations contained in the proceeding, but Crayola has agreed to reimburse consumers and/or provide vouchers to Canadian persons who purchased or otherwise acquired 2011 Crayola Washable Coloured Bubbles. Reimbursement for cleaning supplies and other expenses will also be available to some consumers.
The claims process will begin if the Court approves the settlement following a hearing scheduled for September 12, 2013.
"We believe this settlement provides meaningful benefits for Canadian purchasers of the 2011 Washable Coloured Bubbles," said lawyer Jeff Orenstein of Consumer Law Group Inc., which act as class counsel.
"The trust and loyalty Canadian consumers have in our brand are very important to us," said Julie Lando, Crayola spokesperson. "We always listen and ensure that consumers who need assistance are satisfied with how we handle their concerns."
Crayola has introduced a new and improved coloured bubble product, called Outdoor Coloured Bubbles, for sale this year. This product is not the subject of the class action settlement.
Details about the settlement can be found at www.2011washablecolouredbubblessettlement.ca.
