CTIA-The Wireless Association® Features Wireless Safety in July's "Wonder of Wireless"

WASHINGTON, July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the July edition of the "Wonder of Wireless" (WOW) webcast and blog (http://blog.ctia.org), CTIA-The Wireless Association® highlights several of the industry's safety programs and features a new mobile application to help users improve their personal physical fitness.  The voluntary safety efforts allow the industry to efficiently and effectively address the needs of consumers while also providing the flexibility needed to adapt with the evolving wireless marketplace. We also preview the 2012 VITA™ Wireless Samaritan Achievement Awards that honor wireless users who have used mobile technology during emergency situations to help others.

Featured recipients are Val Renfro, a Texas grandmother who used her courage, car and a wireless device to help apprehend a purse thief; Amber and Jeremy Engel, who used a cellphone to receive real-time medical assistance and safely deliver their healthy baby; and Darrin Boehmer, who helped save a disabled man's life by calling emergency services on his wireless device.
