CURE Magazine Named a Finalist in PM360's 2010 Trailblazer Awards
Largest consumer publication in the U.S. for people with cancer is a finalist for Best Consumer Healthcare Publication
DALLAS, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- CURE magazine, a free publication for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, has been named a finalist in this year's Trailblazer Awards hosted by PM360 magazine. The annual competition recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation in healthcare marketing. CURE is now one of three publications vying for the title of Best Trailblazer "Consumer Healthcare Publication" Initiative—a brand new category created for this year's awards. Other finalists include Crohn'sAdvocate magazine and WebMD the Magazine.
Publisher and cancer survivor Susan McClure is thrilled with CURE's nomination and the excitement it brings to the organization and the overall cancer care community. "Our readers continually tell us how important CURE has been to them during their illnesses. Many consider the magazine a support group that arrives by mail. When that type of praise also comes from a peer, it makes the honor that much more special," said McClure.
According to PM360, "entries were judged and the winners selected by the PM360 Editorial Advisory Board, representing a wide range of expertise in client and agency healthcare marketing." The award presentation will take place on Friday, September 24, at the deluxe Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City. Winners will be announced in the October issue of PM360 and posted on www.pm360online.com.
This is not the first time CURE has been honored in the medical marketing field. Just last year, the magazine was recognized by MM&M as a finalist in the same category. Additionally in 2009, min, a publication highlighting the magazine industry, named CURE one of the "Most Engaged Media Brands." Since its inception, CURE has received more than 23 other accolades, including two nominations for the prestigious National Magazine Awards and multiple FOLIO: Eddie and Ozzie Awards.
CURE, founded in 2002, has a quarterly distribution of 325,000. In addition to the magazine, CURE offers readers an interactive website, books, live events and an annual resource guide for the newly diagnosed. Led by editor-in-chief Debu Tripathy, MD, a nationally recognized breast oncologist, McClure, and cancer survivor and editor-at-large, Kathy LaTour, CURE covers all tumor types and consistently provides the cancer community with comprehensive information that combines science with humanity to make cancer understandable.
All issues of CURE are available online at www.curetoday.com along with links to archives of past issues, a variety of blogs, message boards, e-newsletters, and exclusive articles for online readers.
