Cybersecurity Alliance's Cybersecurity Awareness Month Effort to Help People Stay Safer Online
Haven joins the 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign as a Champion and Community Sponsor of the National Cybersecurity Alliance's Cybersecurity Summit at the New York Stock Exchange
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Haven, the browser security company helping individuals, families and businesses stay safer online, today announced its participation in the National Cybersecurity Alliance's 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign, expanding its commitment to helping people recognize risk and make safer decisions online.
This year's Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme, "Don't Make It Easy for Them," encourages people to build simple, repeatable security habits that make it harder for cybercriminals to succeed.
For Haven, that mission aligns closely with a core belief: cybersecurity awareness is essential, but people also need support at the moment awareness has to become action.
"Staying safe online isn't about being perfect; it's about building simple habits that make it harder for cybercriminals to succeed," said Lisa Plaggemier, Executive Director of the National Cybersecurity Alliance. "Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an opportunity to turn awareness into action. We're glad to have Haven's support during this year's campaign, reaching more people with practical resources they can use to protect themselves online."
Throughout Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Haven is supporting the National Cybersecurity Alliance's efforts to make practical cybersecurity education and safer online behavior more accessible to individuals and businesses.
Haven's participation includes:
- Serving as a 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion
- Serving as a Community Sponsor of the National Cybersecurity Alliance Cybersecurity Summit at the New York Stock Exchange on October 22
- Supporting Cybersecurity Awareness Month education and content throughout October
- Sharing practical guidance designed to help individuals, families and businesses recognize online risks and make safer decisions
Haven CEO Brian Silverstein and COO Colin Britton will also attend the October 22 Cybersecurity Summit in New York, joining cybersecurity leaders from across industry and the broader security community.
For Haven, the idea of turning awareness into action is especially important in the moments when people are actually making decisions online.
"People are being asked to make security decisions all day long — whether they realize it or not," said Brian Silverstein, CEO of Haven. "Is this link real? Is this website safe? Is this actually the company I think I'm talking to? Should I trust this AI tool? Training can help people recognize risk, but we also need to give them help in the five seconds before the click. That's where Haven comes in."
Haven's approach is built around the idea that security should work alongside people rather than depend entirely on them.
Its AI-powered browser security companion provides contextual guidance and protection as users move through the web, helping identify risks such as phishing, impersonation, suspicious websites, unsafe links and other emerging online threats before a risky action is taken.
That approach is becoming increasingly important as artificial intelligence makes social engineering and online deception faster, cheaper and more convincing.
Attackers can now create highly personalized messages, realistic impersonation attempts and convincing fraudulent content at greater scale, making many of the traditional warning signs people have been taught to look for harder to spot.
"The gap we keep coming back to is the space between knowing what you're supposed to do and actually recognizing the threat when it appears in front of you," Silverstein said. "Closing that gap is one of the most important things we can do to make people safer online."
Cybersecurity Awareness Month encourages individuals and organizations to take practical steps to strengthen their online security, including using strong passwords, enabling multifactor authentication, recognizing and reporting scams and keeping software updated.
For Haven, the campaign is also an opportunity to reinforce a broader idea: cybersecurity should not require every person to become a cybersecurity expert.
Instead, security should help people make safer decisions when those decisions matter most.
