CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of D-Tech Optoelectronics, a privately held corporation, announced today that the company is acquiring the telecom assembly line assets of Infomax, a privately held Taiwanese corporation. The assets will convert to a new Taiwanese company to be named D-Tech Optoelectronics (Taiwan) Corporation.
D-Tech is a leader in the design and manufacture of components for the optical communications (FTTx) market. D-Tech plans to maintain its design facility and manufacturing plant in California, and to augment this with a packaging plant in Taiwan.
Dr. Xiucheng Wu, President and CTO of D-Tech, and Infomax Chairman Chih-Cheng Chien signed the transfer agreement on May 10th 2010.
Chairman Chien said, "Infomax is doing so well in our core business of assembling devices for the cable TV industry that our board of directors felt we should concentrate our efforts in that sector. The sale of these assets will provide us with capital to grow our primary business."
D-Tech CEO Mary Fong stated, "This acquisition gives us a boost in capacity to supply our rapidly growing orders, allowing us to better serve our valuable customers. It is a nice bonus that we will now have a facility that is also closer to many of those customers."
D-Tech and Infomax have long co-operated on the packaging of optical devices, so the transfer of assets is expected to be seamless. To further ease the transition, D-Tech plans to continue the employment of the existing production line personnel. Commenting on this, Ms. Fong said, "The board of D-Tech and I would like to thank the entire Infomax management team, especially Chairman Chien and Mr. Gary Chen, their General Manager, for being so helpful and efficient throughout the negotiation and the handover of these assets."
In Taiwan, the transition has been led by Mr. Gary Chiang, D-Tech VP of Operations, who will continue to work closely with Infomax over the next few weeks.
