Dad Blog Prepares to Turn Truth Spotlight on Toy Product Reviews
NORTHAMPTON, Mass., Jan. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Toy Fair comes to NYC in February and one dad blog is determined to make sure that the new "hot" toys are worth parents' hard earned money. DadDoes.Com will be providing complete coverage of the International Toy Fair, and more importantly, providing hands-on real-world reviews of the sure-to-be most-wanted toys in the coming months.
In order to combat the boring and biased product reviews that flood the Web, DadDoes.Com recently launched its Real, Relevant & Riveting Product Review Pledge. DadDoes.Com is one of the only product review sites that does not accept any money for reviews, does not accept advertising from the products it reviews and does not make any money if you buy the product they review.
Many blogs and media outlets will cover the International Toy Fair and provide reviews and recommendations based on demos done at the show. DadDoes.Com believes that while providing previews of toys from the show is acceptable, providing full reviews and recommendations from a quick demo is not helpful.
"Every parent has a closet full of hot holiday toys that they bought their kids, only to find out the toys just weren't fun. For this reason, when we do toy reviews we spend weeks actually using the toy in a real-world setting. Only after doing a full hands-on review -- by real moms, dads and kids -- do we write a review and make a recommendation," states Dan Nessel, founder of DadDoes.Com.
In reviewing the Top 16 Holiday Toys for 2010, Dad Does found three toys that it could not recommend. In fact, it referred to one toy as "The Toy To Buy If You Don't Love Your Kids." While manufactures of less than stellar toys are not always thrilled with the brutal honesty of the Dad Does reviews, parents love it.
Nessel concludes, "Product review blogs should provide objective and helpful reviews, otherwise they are just giant advertisements. We love toys and can't wait to see all the new toys at the Toy Fair in NYC. What we CAN wait to do is provide full, honest and relevant product reviews until we have had a chance to test the toys in the real world."
