Daft McCune Walker Receives MBE Certification

TOWSON, Md., July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Daft McCune Walker, Inc. (DMW), a multidisciplinary consulting firm with headquarters in Towson and offices across the state, recently received its Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification from the State of Maryland for Engineering, Surveying, Environmental and CAD services. As a recognized women-owned business, DMW will expand its reach to support the engineering, environmental, and surveying needs of public sector clients, while continuing to grow its private sector business.

The state's MBE Program is managed through Maryland's Department of Transportation (MDOT). The process for certification is meticulous, including a lengthy investigation and evaluation of the business to confirm that it is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more women. Firms must be certified as an MBE in order to be counted toward the minority participation goal on state and certain local and municipal contracts. 

This certification provides a significant competitive advantage for DMW. Many companies look for partnerships with a minority-owned firm in order to meet supplier diversity guidelines, and to demonstrate their commitment to small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
