Dallas Men's Fashion Coach Offers to 'Suit a Soldier' for the Holidays
NORTH TEXANS ASKED TO NOMINATE A DESERVING WAR VETERAN TO RECEIVE NEW WARDROBE
DALLAS, Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ --
They've dodged bullets, bombs and terrorist attacks.
But the most hurtful blow may be the one they receive back home:
Unemployment.
Returning US servicemen now face one of the nation's highest jobless rates. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 10.6% of all returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are now unemployed. Nationally, the BLS reports an average unemployment rate of 9.6%.
"These guys are heroes. We are thankful for the sacrifices they make for our country. It allows us to enjoy our way of life and come home to our families every night," says Dallas men's fashion coach Bob Baumann. "These guys put it all on the line for us, and I think they should be first in line when there's an available job."
To help a deserving service-member get that new job in the civilian work-force, Baumann wants to dress him head-to-toe.
"I really believe the clothes make the man," says Baumann. "When a guy has a great looking suit that fits him properly, I can guarantee you he feels ten feet tall."
Baumann, founder and president of Dallas-based Edward Baumann Clothiers, will announce on Veterans Day a one-of-a-kind offer to provide a new set of dress clothes to a deserving service-member from North Texas. Baumann will provide a new custom suit, shirt, tie, belt and a pair of shoes.
North Texas can nominate a service-member who has returned home after serving on active duty in Iraq or Afghanistan within the last six months and who is currently unemployed. Send a short e-mail story about nominations and why they should be selected to receive a new set of clothes to [email protected] between Veterans Day, November 11th and Thanksgiving Day, November 25th.
The veteran selected will be notified shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday, and then be invited to an Open House at Baumann's Addison showroom, where he will be fitted for his new wardrobe on Thursday evening, December 2nd.
"I think North Texans, more than citizens from almost any other region of the country, step up to service our nation in uniform," says Baumann. "The least I can do is help one of our veterans step into a new career. And I think new clothes will do the trick."
