Danconia Studios and Weeplay Sign Licensing Deal for MAYUMI GUMI

LOS ANGELES, May 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Danconia Studios announced today that it has signed a long-term licensing agreement for its MAYUMI GUMI brand with Weeplay Kids, a unique children's wear company with a proven and trusted reputation for building and acquiring global brands like Hello Kitty and Woolrich. 

Danconia Studios' MAYUMI GUMI brand celebrates the irreverent and playful personality of Japanese jet-setting fashionista, MAYUMI, an iconoclastic she-kitten who revels in the bubble-gum pink, sparkling disco-ball spirit of Kawaii (cute) Culture that is exploding into the mainstream.

"MAYUMI GUMI is an absolutely fresh brand with a colorful, inspired, youthful image that I see breaking out quickly in the U.S. and internationally," said Alan Maleh, CEO of Weeplay. Under their licensing deal, Danconia Studios has agreed to give Weeplay the exclusive right to market and distribute a full line of children's apparel worldwide under the MAYUMI GUMI brand. The new line will include infant, toddler and girl's layette, playwear, knits, woven separates, multi-piece sets, and active-wear. The MAYUMI GUMI children's line will initially be sold at specialty stores throughout the country starting Spring 2014, to be followed by major national and international retailers.
