Daniel E. Straus Touches Families at Award Ceremony to Distribute $1 Million to CareOne Employees Affected By Hurricane Sandy

FT. LEE, N.J., April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel Straus, CEO of CareOne, a Fort Lee, New Jersey-based business, distributed relief funds yesterday to CareOne employees and their families that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  The funds were shared at an award ceremony to help families renovate and rebuild destroyed homes, aid in the replacement of lost personal items, physically raise homes for storm preparedness as well as provide relief for those otherwise displaced as a result of the storm.

The award ceremony follows CareOne's initial donation to employees to provide relief during the December holidays.  In all, Daniel E. Straus and CareOne have raised in excess of $1 million in relief funds to benefit roughly 100 employees and their immediate relatives.  The funds were distributed following an application process and a thorough assessment of damages incurred by each employee and their immediate family members.

At the ceremony, Daniel E. Straus distributed $30,000 to community-based relief funds:  $15,000 each to the Hope For Highlands and Middletown Disaster Relief Fund.

The event was also acknowledged by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who said in a letter to CareOne CEO Daniel Straus, "Your efforts epitomize the meaning of responsible and effective leadership. As New Jersey rebuilds after the effects of Hurricane Sandy, the fundraising initiative that you spearheaded should serve as a model to other business leaders throughout the state. Thanks to your company's generosity, we are restoring normalcy to the lives of our residents."

In attendance with Mr. Straus were Highlands Councilman Kevin Redmond, Highlands Business Partnership President Carla Cefalo-Braswell,  Former Middletown Mayor and Founder of the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund, Anthony P. Fiore and Ms. Jael David from U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone's office.
