Ostrower brings two decades of experience in understanding organizations, building businesses and teams, and launching disruptive innovations for commercial and industrial markets. As Altitude's CEO, he will evolve and expand the firm's strategic abilities to solve organizations' toughest innovation challenges.
"Innovation consulting has been about coming up with 'great ideas.' But ideas are nothing if they don't come to life," said Ostrower. "Successful innovation is as much about recognizing and managing the capacity of an organization and its people to change as it is imagining where they will end up. That's the philosophy around which we build our approach and help our clients develop new offerings."
Ostrower joined Altitude in 2011 as vice president of product development, bringing a client's perspective and entrepreneur's vision to the company's longstanding client engagements. Earlier in his career, he was a leader of three ventures: mobile collaboration software maker zthere, thermal imaging systems developer RedShift Systems, and SMaL Camera Technologies, which was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor in 2005. He began his career as a strategy consultant at Monitor and holds a degree in engineering from Harvard and a dual MBA-MSE from Stanford.
Brian Matt, Altitude's founder, will move into the role of Chairman. Matt will create and lead a board of advisors for Altitude and will focus his considerable creative energies on envisioning the long-term future of the company as he works to establish new channels, partnerships, and business models.
"In the past two years, I've seen Dan steer the creation process, get charged up with the toughest projects, and inspire and empower his teams," said Matt. "He has the vision and passion to build on our success as a top innovation and design consultancy – by creating a virtuous cycle of solving our client's innovation challenges, which deepens and grows trusted engagements, and in turn, fuels our growth as a company. He is the right leader at the right time – and what's next is incredibly exciting."
"Since the beginning, we've been a collaborative, longstanding partner in our clients' innovation paths," said Ostrower. "It's time to bring this grounded approach to innovation to solve bigger problems, and at scale. We have the talent and processes to rise to any challenge."
