SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- data Artisans, founded by the original creators of Apache Flink®, today announced the inaugural North American edition of Flink Forward, the premier conference for Apache Flink, including early program details. Flink Forward unites developers, enterprises, vendors, users and the open source stream processing community for hands-on training, technical sessions and networking opportunities. The two-day Flink Forward will take place in San Francisco, April 10-11, 2017.
Apache Flink is an open source, community-driven stream processing framework for distributed, big data analytics. Apache Flink is one of the largest and fastest growing communities among big data projects.
Industry analysts estimate that the big data analytics market will reach $99 billion by 2022 (see Stratistics Market Research Consulting, subscription required), due in large part to data processing software technologies and applications that unleash greater data analytics capabilities. Tools like Apache Flink enable enterprises within e-commerce, telecommunications, and financial sectors (among others) to process high volumes of data at unprecedented speeds and with greater agility.
Flink easily integrates with other platforms used for both data input/output (e.g. Apache Kafka or HDFS) and deployment (e.g. Apache Mesos or YARN) and is chosen by companies like Alibaba and King.com for scalability, high performance and low latency data processing. The Apache Flink community recently issued software release 1.2.0 which resolves 650 issues identified through community collaboration and user feedback. New features include low-level stream operations, SQL improvements, asynchronous I/O, Apache Mesos integration and improved documentation. The next major software release is slated for May 2017.
Flink Forward Program
Flink Forward is the only industry event to provide an open and collaborative forum for educational talks, technical innovation and community networking to advance Apache Flink and accelerate software development. On April 11, the program will include keynotes and nearly 30 sessions covering stream processing and real time analytics challenges, machine learning, technical feature deep-dives, application trends, enterprise use cases, and more. On April 10, Flink Forward will also feature a one-day training course for data engineers, software developers, system architects, and technical managers who want a hands-on, in-depth introduction to Apache Flink. Attendees will gain an understanding of Flink features that make it easy to build accurate, fault tolerant applications on streams as well as the most common, useful patterns for processing streaming data with Flink.
