Increasing enterprise dependence on technology drives demand
SINGAPORE, April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The urgent need for organizations to protect sensitive data in the face of sophisticated cyber threats and attacks has spurred the data loss protection (DLP) market in Asia-Pacific. The market will continue its steady growth as the convergence of IT and business compels enterprises to invest in DLP technologies, including e-mail and end-point protection systems, to guard their virtual assets.

Despite the increasing relevance of DLP, its complex nature has limited uptake to a certain degree. Differing perspectives from various vendors have resulted in a lack of clarity on the functioning of DLP solutions, leading several firms to adopt a wait-and-see approach towards adoption.
The perception that DLP is a work-in-progress application has further curbed implementation, particularly in Japan, South Korea and Australia, where demand for relatively sophisticated security solutions is substantial.
Greater caution towards spending among Asia-Pacific enterprises has restrained market revenues and put the onus on DLP providers to offer comprehensive and cost-effective solutions.
"Vendors must provide DLP as an integrated feature that can be incorporated into the overall IT setup," noted Anh Tien. "The ability to employ DLP capabilities as an add-on to mature security platforms, such as e-mail or endpoint security, will encourage businesses to adopt DLP technology."
Emerging cloud and mobile computing trends will speed up the installation of secure content management technologies, offering additional opportunities for suppliers in the Asia-Pacific DLP market.
