SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- This morning we reviewed a draft of a lawsuit that the Ficano administration plans to bring against the Old Wayne County Partnership.
Due to the frivolous and damaging nature of these fabricated claims, David Farbman on behalf of Burton Farbman has decided to issue the following statement:
Our family has a 30 + year history of passionate commitment to the City of Detroit and the state of Michigan. Our company provides hundreds of quality jobs and continues to stimulate employment in this highly challenged region.
This deal was formed in the mid 1980s. To put things in perspective, I was in middle school at that time. That was about the time in my life that I learned about bullies and was taught by my dad to stand up to them.
Ficano's bullying tactics have gone on too long. This administration hides behind the power of the office while pretending to be righteous. There is nothing righteous about being a bully or abusing power.
The case Ficano is threatening, of which I have only seen a draft that was leaked to the press, is without merit and is loaded with false statements and inaccuracies. Should the Ficano administration proceed with frivolous litigation, we will be left with no choice but to take aggressive legal action against the administration both individually and as a whole.
This is desperate Monday morning quarterbacking and an attempt to distract the public from the current fiscal crisis and the real issues that the administration is facing. While I empathize with many of the challenges faced by the County, attempting to bring forth a fabricated and highly damaging lawsuit on a deal that happened more than 25 years ago is unacceptable. If these attacks continue I will aggressively pursue all remedies. David Farbman
