ST. LOUIS, July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- David Stokes, chief executive officer and president of Grey Eagle Distributors, has been elected president of the St. Louis Guns 'N Hoses Boxing Association succeeding the late Jerry Clinton. In addition, the charity's board of directors has been re-organized to better support Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses.
The event, which has raised more than $3.6 million, is held Thanksgiving Eve to benefit The BackStoppers, a non-profit organization that assists the families of police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who perish in the line of duty. The 26th annual event will be held November 21 at Scottrade Center and tickets will go on sale in September.
Other members of the board include Jack Martorelli (vice-president), Steve Holley (secretary) and Joe Eppy (treasurer). Martorelli and Holley have served as tournament organizers. Eppy is with BKD CPAs and Advisors and has been assisting the association in recent years.
Newly elected board members are St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce; Richard Gray, President of the St. Louis Police Commissioners; and Jim Edmonds, former St. Louis Cardinals player and owner of 15 Steakhouse in St. Louis. Sportscaster Joe Buck continues as a board member.
Ron Battelle, executive director of The BackStoppers, and Jim Hubbard, the event's community relations director, are ex-officio board members.
New members were introduced to the Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses committee at a recent meeting. The Committee, which coordinates the Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses event, is composed of representatives of area law enforcement and firefighting operations and several community members.
