MANCHESTER, England, March 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Retailer Dawsons Music is providing comprehensive support to the National "Learn To Play Day," due to take place on Saturday 31st March. Dawsons will be hosting the event in all but one of its 11 stores, and also bringing the event to the Lowry Outlet Mall in Salford Quays.
The event has been orchestrated by the charity "Music for All" and is aimed at providing easy, free music lessons to anyone who has ever wanted to play. Those who have always had an ambition to play a musical instrument can experience how it feels to play and share the teachers' knowledge and Dawsons Music's passion, sparking the inspiration and confidence to continue in earnest.
With help from its own music schools, Access To Music, The Musician's Union, and several leading instrument and musical equipment manufacturers, Dawsons will be offering free taster lessons on a range of instruments from the more contemporary, such as guitars, bass, drums, piano and keyboards, to orchestral instruments.
At the Dawsons Music store on Portland St in Manchester, in addition to the in-store teachers, Damon Chivers from Fender guitars will be offering guitar lessons and session drummer and Roland V-Drum expert Ben Stone (whose credits include N.E.R.D. and the Gorillaz) will be sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience. Outside of the stores, Luke Edwards from Korg will be on keys and Adam Welch from Vox amps will be on guitar at the Lowry Outlet Mall at Salford Quays.
For those whose musical ambitions have been to be the next DMC DJ World champion, rather than the next guitar hero, international DMC Champion DJ Rasp will also be at the Manchester store sharing his immense knowledge and skills as a DJ and turntablist. DJ lessons from Numark demonstrators will also be available in Liverpool and Reading.
As the range of instrument lessons available at each store varies, it is advisable to visit http://www.dawsons.co.uk/blog/learn-to-play-day-at-dawsons-update for a list of the teachers available at each store. Alternatively, call your local Dawsons Music store.
