Daylight Recovery Services to Host Candlelight Vigil for Overdose Awareness Day on August 31
Daylight Recovery Services, an addiction rehabilitation center in Corona, CA, will be hosting a candlelight vigil on August 31
CORONA, Calif., Aug. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Daylight Recovery Services is hosting a candlelight vigil and recovery education event on August 31, 2018, for International Overdose Awareness Day at dusk at the northwest corner of Sixth and Main in Corona, CA. Educational Material about the facts regarding overdose and free Narcan samples will be available and provided by Daylight staff.
"We would like to welcome all members of the community and specifically those who have been directly affected and lost a loved one to an overdose," said Christy Day, Executive Director of Daylight Recovery Services. "This event to honor the memory of those who have been lost to a drug overdose, as well as to educate the community about how to prevent future drug overdose deaths. This remembrance event is sponsored by the Daylight Recovery Services, LLC an organization that provides treatment to those suffering from addictive disorders."
Day will speak to the community member about this topic briefly and then begin a candlelight vigil. The candlelight vigil will take place at the northwest corner of Sixth and Main in Corona at dusk. Staff members from Daylight Recovery Services will be in attendance as well as clients, family, friends and other loved ones as we remember those who have been affected by addiction and overdose. Additionally, Daylight staff will be available with resources on inpatient treatment services, outpatient drug treatment programs, detoxification, drug-specific addiction/recovery information, and more.
The goal of International Overdose Awareness Day is to raise awareness about the dangers of overdosing while reducing the stigma of drug-related deaths, as drug abuse and addiction become an increasingly prevalent issue in today's society. It also acknowledges the grief felt by loved ones remembering those who have died because of a drug overdose.
