DC Area Small Business Offers Shutdown Relief With a $5 Car Wash

WOODBRIDGE, Va., Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- While the government shutdown has unfortunately arrived, one local business is taking action to assist their community to give back. The Smart Car Wash, located in Woodbridge, VA is a family run business that senses the pinch. "Our community has a high concentration of military and federal government families. We felt the anxiety coming and wanted to be ready," said Suzanne Behrens, co-founder of The Smart Car Wash.

So this week, The Smart Car Wash slashed their prices in half, and launched a "Shutdown Relief" initiative.  The Smart Car Wash is offering a $5 express exterior car wash through their state-of-the-art wash tunnel, throughout the shutdown. The normal price for this wash is $10.

The owners had an employee sign-flipper advertising this offer on Minnieville Road and within minutes new cars turned in. "I need shutdown relief!" said one customer to the owner. He had been furloughed and appreciated the help. "I was surprised to see him smile, but that alone made it worth the effort" said Behrens.

The car wash is also offering a 10% discount off all their unlimited car wash plans, normally reserved for military families and veterans. "We are all in this together and want to do our part to help support our government workers."
