Dean Witter III and wife Rebekah to sell Heart Valley Ranch near Silicon Valley

GROVELAND, Calif., Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A decade ago, Dean Witter III (Kip) and wife Rebekah purchased Heart Valley Ranch in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, near both Yosemite Park and Silicon Valley, to give the family a place to escape to the old-western lifestyle. They've enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, panning for gold and jumping in the natural swimming hole in Jackass Creek.

But now, with their children grown and busy in other areas of the country, the Witters are selling the 365-acre property at auction, with Albert Burney Auction Company managing the sale. The property is selling with no minimum or reserve.

"We've loved this historic homestead, which was originally settled after the Gold Rush, but we've reached a point in our lives that it's time to let someone else enjoy it.
We've used Albert Burney before, so we naturally turned to them to sell this property as well," said Rebekah. Kip, grandson of the founder of Dean Witter & Company, is a chief financial officer in the tech sector, serving start-ups and companies with short-term management needs.

Heart Valley Ranch shares in the colorful history of the area, being one of the first homesteads supporting horses and cattle. Jackass Creek was an active panning site for gold seekers, and many of the creek's large granite surfaces have bedrock mortar holes where members of Me-Wuk tribes once ground acorns with pestles long before any prospectors arrived. 

"This really is a remarkable spot – not far from the pulse of Silicon Valley, surrounded by recreation opportunities you won't find anywhere else. The property itself is fenced and has two barns," said Warren A. Ward, president of the auction company.
