UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J., Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Friday, September 23, marks the first day of fall – and the perfect time to ensure a "deckadent" new space for the spring and summer of 2012! The Thompson's Company has teamed with Jeff Wilson, star of numerous HGTV and diy Network programs (including Build A Deck), in a sweepstakes that will award one winner a $10,000 makeover budget, along with an in-person visit and consultations with Jeff to take their visions of a backyard paradise from dream to reality. Entries can be submitted until 11:59 p.m. on October 1 at www.thompsonswaterseal.com/dreamdeck. (Complete rules for entry are posted there as well.) And the fun you'll have dreaming about what to do if you win is priceless.

Whether the homeowner wants to build their very first deck or improve and expand on an existing deck, the initial step will be an on-site walk-through with Jeff, who will spend the day helping the homeowner visualize and design a truly one-of-a-kind outdoor space. It's a process that he's very familiar with, having personally created his own family's backyard oasis from an existing eyesore.

Wilson's Ohio home came with a 200 square foot basic deck, painted bright white. "You couldn't sit out there in the summer because of the glare off of the white paint," said Jeff. "And the deck was really showing signs of water damage as well." Jeff designed and personally built a new, two-level deck with a screened porch on one end. Nestled into the opposite corner is an outdoor kitchen complete with wood-burning pizza oven, grill, sink, counter space and beer tap. Dinner can be enjoyed under a cedar-topped pergola that sits on the other side of the kitchen.

"I'm really looking forward to sharing my experience with the winner, from talking about the size and shape of the deck to reviewing permitting, ways to save on materials and even thinking of those one-of-a-kind touches that will truly make this a unique space," said Jeff. "The possibilities are limitless – this really will be a dream deck."

To supplement Jeff's invaluable knowledge, the $10,000 prize money can be used for supplies like lumber, hardware and tools, for hiring a professional to help with actual labor if necessary or for deck furniture, accessories and landscaping if you are already lucky enough to have the perfect deck.
