Delaware Bayshore Council Issues Annual Report Calling For Critical Actions To Protect Region

PORT NORRIS, N.J., Nov. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The New Jersey Delaware Bayshore Council (DBC) released its first Annual Report to the Governor and the Legislature highlighting the urgent threats facing the Delaware Bayshore region represented by over 12 municipalities and three southern New Jersey Counties. The Report also outlines key policy recommendations.

The DBC formed under the leadership of the First Legislative District team of Senator Jeff Van Drew, and Assemblymen Robert Andrzejczak and Bruce Land through the passing of a Joint Resolution and signed by the Governor recognizing the Delaware Bayshore as a region of particular significance in the Garden State. The Resolution calls on the Council to report on the various threats to the region and make policy recommendations, including any proposed legislation, on how the State could design programs or direct resources to help address these threats.

"The Delaware Bayshore Council identifies three critical action areas: (1) Shoreline protection in the face of sea level rise; (2) Economic development and regulatory recognition of distinct regional needs, and (3) A coordinated Bay-wide effort," notes Council Chairman Norris Clark. We ask the Governor and Legislature to make NJ's Delaware Bayshore a priority and enact legislation to address 11 critical actions.
