NEW YORK, Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In the spirit of Thanksgiving, delivery.com has expanded its relationship with Stop Hunger Now to give thanks by giving back during the holidays. A leading destination for on-demand online ordering from local restaurants and stores, delivery.com has committed to donate a portion of its proceeds from each order placed in Manhattan between November 23 - 25 to their charity partner, Stop Hunger Now, as part of the seasonal, philanthropic "Plates for the World" campaign. The donation from delivery.com will help package and deliver up to 20,000 meals to those most in need.*
In addition, several Manhattan restaurants have pledged to contribute 58 cents for each order they receive through delivery.com during the same period. Thanks to the incredible work done by Stop Hunger Now, 58 cents is all it costs to make two highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals.
This isn't the first time that delivery.com has worked with the global hunger relief nonprofit. For over a year, Stop Hunger Now has been a featured partner in delivery.com's Charity at Checkout™ program, which allows delivery.com customers to donate their Delivery Points — loyalty rewards earned with every order — to a participating charity of their choosing.
"We've been proud to contribute to Stop Hunger Now in the past and we're excited to help bring 'Plates for the World' to New York," says Kate McGee, CMO of delivery.com. "With Thanksgiving coming up, we felt this was a great way to leverage the support of restaurant members to tackle hunger."
Based in Raleigh, N.C., Stop Hunger Now has provided over 296 million meals and aid in 74 countries since its inception. Founded by Plates Neighborhood Kitchen in Raleigh three years ago to support Stop Hunger Now's mission, the "Plates for the World" program will be launching in New York for the first time ever.
