Demand for Corporate Accountability Leads Sustainserv to Expand Offerings for Training on Corporate Sustainability Reporting
BOSTON, April 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In the wake of recent events tied to corporate responsibility, ranging from large-scale environmental damages to consumer safety concerns, demand for information on corporate sustainability has been on the rise. The evidence is everywhere: To-date, over 360 shareholder resolutions relating to environmental, social, and governance concerns have been filed in 2011. Data from The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the world's most widely recognized standard for corporate sustainability reporting, shows that more than 1800 GRI-based reports were filed in 2010, a nearly 70% increase over the previous two years.
"Being in this business for nearly 10 years, we've seen first-hand the trend toward broader and more standardized reporting efforts," says Sustainserv Director, Matthew Gardner. "We've helped to write over 60 GRI reports, and were the first certified GRI training partner in Switzerland. As companies are taking sustainability more seriously, members of the business community have been asking us to help them to understand the issues and know how to respond."
In response, Sustainserv has expanded its training offerings for those interested in learning about corporate sustainability reporting. This spring, Sustainserv will host a series of two-day GRI-certified training courses in its Zurich, Switzerland office:
April 14th (in English), |
|
May 19th (in German), and |
|
June 24th. |
|
These courses are designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the GRI framework, trends in sustainability reporting, and practical guidance based on case studies from Sustainserv's experience.
In addition the Boston, Massachusetts office will host an introductory seminar on the basics of corporate sustainability reporting on May 9th, which will serve to explain the business case and fundamentals of sustainability reporting.
