Demandware Announces Jit Saxena Joins Board of Directors

Saxena is a seasoned entrepreneur who has spent more than 35 years transforming the Boston hardware and software industry. As the ecommerce industry continues to expand into new and ground-breaking territories, Saxena will help Demandware to scale appropriately, including providing strategies for expansion into new application markets and entrance into new global markets.

Saxena's most recent venture was Netezza Corporation, which he founded in year 2000 and led to public offering in 2007. Netezza pioneered the development of data warehouse appliances and today is a leading provider of data warehousing and analytics products on a worldwide basis. The company has established itself firmly in online businesses, retail, telecommunications, financial services and government markets and was recently acquired by IBM for $1.7 billion. Saxena served as Netezza's CEO from its founding until his retirement in February 2009. He still currently serves as Chairman of the Board.

Prior to Netezza, Saxena was founder and CEO of Applix, Inc. which pioneered decision support applications for the open environments and was acquired by Cognos/IBM in 2007.

Saxena has also served as a senior executive in marketing and product development for Data General Corp.
