Demo Day at Quantico to Show Augmented Reality Technology Advancing Real-World Military Training

Technical briefing about augmented reality for training, followed by demonstrations of latest capabilities from SRI International. |
Augmented reality uses computer graphics and special head-mounted displays to insert virtual actors and objects into a scene. The virtual actors respond in realistic ways, whether the situation is hostile or safe. |

Demo visitors will have an opportunity to wear the augmented reality system and experience it themselves. |

Demos to include: |

- Marines outfitted with augmented reality kits clearing the school area of hostile virtual characters. |
|
- Tracking of Marine movements in GPS-denied environments, even when walking through smoke. |
|
- Augmented reality as seen through binoculars. |
|
- Tablet PC repair using virtual environment. The demo will show how augmented reality could also be used to fix machinery and vehicles. |
